Berlin Contemporary Dance

Berlin Contemporary Dance (BCD) is an independent school of Contemporary Dance in Berlin and online. The courses offered take place in different studios in Berlin for different levels and they are structured in weekly 1,5 hour courses, as well as 3 hour Workshops. Participants commonly form a consistent group of attendants to the weekly courses, thus allowing the group for drastic technical improvement, as well as connection. The quality of the courses offered lies on the consistency of this mutual interaction between teacher and students on a weekly basis.

The courses are highly physical and practice primarily floor work, floor acrobatics, improvisation, body awareness and fluency. Performance Projects and multiple events are also produced and BCD undertakes the whole creation and production process, including the artistic direction and choreography, as well as the production management.

The founder of BCD, Iliana Kalapotharakou, is a contemporary dancer, choreographer and Contemporary dance instructor. Her professional experience reaches 12 years and 3 countries. She developed BCD in the course of the 8 last years in Berlin, slowly but successfully creating a community of great supporters that value the importance of art and movement in their daily lives.
